The 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide Will Be Commemorated on April 24, 2015
POSTED ON 10 Apr 2015

To my fans, friends, and simply all the people, I would like you to take a moment to watch and share this video, which was made in commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide on April 24th. Even if this tragic event did not affect you personally, I believe that we should all acknowledge this predicament that many Armenians were forced to face and hopefully help prevent any future genocides from occurring to any nation or culture.

Written, arranged, produced and performed by yours truly.

Hello friends!
POSTED ON 17 Jun 2012

It’s been a while since I wrote anything new here. Yes, I have a bad habit of forgetting to update my news section. That's because I actually write updates on my social sites like Facebook and Twitter.

There are so many things to fill you in on. Some different and exciting projects have occupied a lot of my time recently, and I’ve been working
in the studio a lot.
I am the happiest when I am creating music. I’ve been collaborating with other musicians, not only as a singer songwriter, but as a music arranger and pianist.

I have been writing new songs in between studio sessions and teaching music, so my new album is in the works for the upcoming year! I will keep you posted on my progress of making new music. I promise to add more live
performance videos for all of you to enjoy.

Thanks for all your support!

SK

SONYA KAHN STRIPS DOWN FOR SOPHOMORE ALBUM
POSTED ON 14 Jun 2011

SONYA KAHN has announced the release of her second album, “Stripped Ballads.” The album is available now on iTunes, Amazon MP3, Rhapsody, Napster and in major retail stores.

A concert pianist who has played the piano since the age of three, SONYA KAHN tells that this album marks a more intimate departure from the complex arrangements and productions of her previous album, “New Beginning.” “Stripped Ballads” is exactly that: a naked approach to big songs.

Selections include Sonya’s newest original songs as well as her arrangements of all-time classics by Russell Brand, Billy Joel, Barbra Streisand (Michel Legrand) and Whitney Houston (David Foster).
Sonya chose to record “Stripped Ballads” acoustically, on a grand piano. Though Sonya’s piano arrangements evoke all the nuances of a full symphony orchestra, stripping down the songs in this way resulted in a bare simplicity, allowing the craftsmanship of the songs – as well as Sonya’s huge vocal range – to shine through. The result is an honest sound, from tender to robust, revealing SONYA KAHN as an artist who needs nothing to hide behind.

“Stripped Ballads” was recorded at World Beat Recording Studios (Calabasas, California). Vocals and Piano: Sonya Kahn, Saxophone: Joe Nazzaretta, Recording Engineer: Aurindro Lahiri, Mixing Engineer: Todd Burke and Sonya Kahn, Mastering: Robert Vosgien (Capitol Mastering). All songs arranged by Sonya Kahn except for her first collaboration with Saxophonist Joe Nazzaretta on “New York State of Mind” and “What Are You Doing for the Rest of Your Life.”
